COUREUR de BOIS BLUES

For almost 30 years, I have kept a quote pinned up in my studio from architect Frank Gehry, transcribed in my mother’s beautiful script: “I am interested in finishing work, but I am interested in the works not appearing finished, with every hair in place, every piece of furniture in its spot, ready for photographs. I prefer the sketch quality, the tentativeness, the messiness if you will, the appearance of ‘in progress’ rather than the presumption of total resolution and finality.”
This notion has freed my spirit allowing me to explore, independently experimenting, Unencumbered by the confines of perfection. That is where the magic happens…So inspired by that quote from Gehry that I featured it on the traveller's pouch, As a guidepost for exploration.
